Default Subframe Connectors

I have an 03' GT Convertible, and already have stock subframe connectors under the car. These are bolted in. People have been telling me to get aftermarket subframe connectors since I race my car at the dragstrip and have it in the 13's.

My question is, can I just weld my stock subframe connectors in? Wouldn't this have the same effect???

Yea it would have the same effect, assuming the stock ones are strong. I dunno myself as Ive never seen the ones Ford uses though. Personally I would rather use NO subframe connectors unless they were welded in, but maybe Ford did something different to the verts to beef up the area where the bolts would go on - I really don't know though. Prolly shouldn't have posted lol.

Sorry for the dumb question but what are subframe connectors and what do they do for your ride?

here's a good idea of where they go and what they do, from an ebay auction:

They come in different designes and shapes (like tubular), but basically their purpuse is to reduce chassis flex. It will stiffen the car up and do all kinds of good things

I had the right idea about them then. I just never seen a stang with them and never heard anyone talk about them. Thats what I thought they were though. Thanks dude.

I've heard from fellow members that yes, you will notice the difference right away and it will handle and feel like never before.

you should definitely get sub connectors if you plan on going to streets of willow (auto-X), but if you want to just drag, you prolly won't feel much of a difference. it will help you with the curves not the straight.

it seems like you don't know a lot. and as far as the weight for a vert and coupe goes, the spec sheet or hand book from the dealer doesn't list the weight.
