I just covered up The alternator with a garbage bag. sprayed Gunk Engine Bright on the dry cool motor then scrubbed real bad areas with a tooth brush and let it soak for 15 minutes then just rinsed it with a light stream of water.

Note: also spray carefully around the CAI because if water gets in there it will run rough for a while untill it drys out. You could cover it but i didnt and it worked fine, just be careful

Try not to spray wiring stuff too much either. you could also cover these up but i didn't and had no problems just dont blast it.
good luck!!

One question here... i used Gunk's somethin or other to clean my engine an the instructions said to spray it on warmed up engine... is this the same stuff you used? Cuz if it works w/o warming the engine i wouldnt have to smell an breath that damn smoke.. [:-]
