Catback is your set of exhaust pipes that start from your catalytic converters and go back to the muffler.

the cat-back does not include the mid-pipe which has the cats on it, a cat back replaces your mufflers and tailpipes basically,,,,,,, the mid-pipe ( h-pipe,x-pipe) has the cats or no cats if its an off road pipe, and then the headers or manifolds

If you only have 2 cats and there hi flow, it's not worth taking them out, just get some straight through mufflers or resonators it'll be damn loud and with a good cam of course you'll get a lopey idle, keeping the cats keeps you legal

Yea, silver03GT is right. My bad for not mentioning that. The pipes that are behind the midpipe is what is being referred to as catback. There is also axle back systems. These are considered to be just the muffler and exhaust tip. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
