tranny mount guestion
is the metal braccket bolted to the tranny welded any way to the bracket to the car? All I can see is some rubber on the inside.
oh by the way 2002 gt 5 spd |
RE: tranny mount guestion
2 bolts in crossmember & 2 bolts in tranny .

RE: tranny mount guestion
what I need to know is if the mount is one solid piece to tell if it is broken. or otherwords, what does a broken one look like?
|
RE: tranny mount guestion
yeah the mount is one piece, usually rubber inbetween two pieces of metal. If it's broken, the rubber could be gone, it could be split, the metal could be rusted/cracked. Any number of things. See if you can jack up the trans and if it moves w/o disturbing the crossmember at all, if it all moves together it's good, if not it may be shot

RE: tranny mount guestion
when you first start jcking it up, the trany goes up with out the cross member but then the crossmember starts going up with it
|
RE: tranny mount guestion
then you are probalby good, that's the slight flex in the rubber part. Is there any problem you are having???

RE: tranny mount guestion
I am trying to find and get rid of the slack in my drivetrain. the car jerks when I get on and off teh throttle. Would a stiffer prothane mount minimize this?
|
RE: tranny mount guestion
what do you mean jerks.... are you slamming the throttle on and off???
I'd look into your motor mounts first before the tranny mount |
RE: tranny mount guestion
just getting on and off the gas while driving around in first it does it bad. when at speed it just thunks. also when letting the clutch out too fast
|
RE: tranny mount guestion
you sure it's a mount? I'd look into your U joints!!!!
Could be a loose motor mount too! mine did that after i did my oil pan gasket... didn't tighten them down enough, da lol But yeah before you go after that one mount which won't really cause that... look around. :D |
