Alright Guys and Gals. Now I don't know how many of you have looked at the little sticker in your door jambs which tells us the poundage of our beloved 'stangs but PLEASE tell me that I must have been drunk when I read the weight of my GT.... 4412 lbs!!!
This can't be right! I know that my horse is optioned out but I didn't think it weighed like the freakin' Titantic. My dad's old 1972 Buick LeSabre didn't weigh much more than that.

Has anyone else looked at the weight listed on their cars...?

Someone set me straight on this issue or else I'm going to have to switch to a different brand of beer.

Yup it's true. You have the old chassis from the dinosaur age to thank and the dumb engineers at Ford.

It weighs almost as much as my Jeep Grand Cherokee used to![:@]

Damn! So I wasn't drunk. Kinda makes me wish I was. I guess there's no way I can do a Jenny Craig on it unless I decide to take off body parts....the 'Stangs that is, not my own.

Guys, the car doesn't weight anywhere near that much. Thats the GVWR, or gross vehicle weight rating, the maximum amount the car can weigh with itself, fluids, passengers, and cargo, before it becomes unsafe/illegal to drive.

Its kinda like a semi, you can only load so much stuff into the trailer and be legal.

For a 99-04 coupe I have seen claims of anywhere between 3250 and 3350 pounds curb wieght, or just the car/fluids.

keep in mind the gvwr is the total weight including four average passengers and cargo.
