Default Tuner worth it?

Getting your guys .02 on a lot of things here today. ive got a visa with 0%APR for 12 months so i wanted to spend a little cash on my car today (yes i have a job, yes i have money in the bank, yes i will pay it off soon). been lookin at sct tuners. lots of guys sayin 15hp or so difference. i find that somewhat hard to believe. but anyways back to subject. do you think they are worth it and is there any difference on the butt dyno. also should i find a used unlocked one or buy one from say brenspeed and get a custom tune. also if i buy a used one what do most of you guys do just advance timing or mess with anything else. I also plan on getting gears towards the end of school (i live 6 1/2 hours away and its not just the gas mileage but my exhaust is loud and the raise in rpm would make it even worse.) so i could use it later for that also.

hell while im at it, do u think a tb/plenum is worth it or a better investment than a tuner?

btw lca's and drag radials are in the works so im askin bout things to help my trap speed out.

i would say it is definatlly worth it im not gonna buy any more mods for my car till i get a tunner so i dont waste money on mil elimators or a speed calibrator and things like that and also you get some more hp so i would buy it..... and a t/b and phuelum good choose too just remember its not the single mod that will give you big numbers it all them working togehter

Yea if you want the most out of your tuner I'd suggest you also get a new TB/Plenum combo as that will help work with any other air mods(intake, exhaust, etc) that you have done so you can maximize the timing and A/F ratio on your car to get the most out of tune.

I am considering a tune in the future, but have a question. If I get one and then do future mods can I call them up and request a new tune to be emailed to me or something? And if so what would addittional tunes run me.

Thanks

ya i was seeing how u have to go to get a tune for an sct dealer, which i believe the closest to me is brenspeed. they arent too far away really. If you buy a used unlocked one, then would i have to drive up and get a tune. if so its probably worth just buying other mods first before a tuner. im new to the whole using a handheld tuner deal. not sure exactly how they work. im still stuck on the gm prom chips and getting them burned and dyno tuned etc.... thanks in advance guys

Do it! The thing about a tuner is you loose some low end to gain a lotta top end. It unlocked power up top that i never knew my car had. Before i would cruise along at highway speeds in 5th and if i mashed it it would just cruise along but after the tuner it pulls pretty good even in fifth. I say its worth the money but i bought mine for $250 from a buddy slightly used so i made out good. Mine is a diablo predator sport. Thats why it pays off to be in a mustang club. Hand me downs at good prices. I just got an optima yellow top deep cell from my buddy who only used it for one month and i only had to pay $70 for a $200 battery.

Does that come with a tune or do you just do it yourself? And should I get the PC interface, or is it something I can get later?
