Default Flowmaster Knock Offs??????

Hello to all....Just bought an '02 Mineral Gray 5spd GT for my work car. I brought it to my muffler guy and we put it on the rack (1 hour after signing papers no less ) to find that the Flowmasters I thought I had ARE NOT FLOWMASTER!!! They sound EXACTLY like flows and look like flows, but there is no stamp on them. They appeared to black at one time, but heat might have cause some of the paint(?) to wear off. Well.......I cut the rear cats off and this thing sounds great now.

Question: What name brand muffler do I have????? Anyone else have mufflers like this????

Thanks

Summit makes or distributes a muffler very similar to the Flowmaster 40's

edelbrock makes a muffler that looks like a black flowmaster, which are from summit

Then again those could be super 40s. My buddy has flowmaster super 40s that are/were black

I thought they could have been super 40's but there is no FLOWMASTER stamp on the seam like a TRUE Flowmaster.......My bud's ole lady has an '03 and we were side by side this evening in a parking lot. Same modifications to both cars (no rear cats) but she has 40 series Flows. Her car was very Raspy at throttle rev....Mine was a more mellow (which I like) at a throttle rev. At idle the two cars were almost identical in sound, but i had a deeper idle with the ole bloopity bloop that the mod motor makes. She had it (bloopity) but her's was at another higher pitch.

Guess I will never know since I like the sound too much

may be the edelbrock ones from summit, which is pretty sweet. That's cool because they are rarer and unique, and if you like the sound that's cool too

I looked at those too.....They have Hooker stamped on them as well. I am going to have to get pics for you guys to see if it will help with identifying the "mystery" mufflers.

I thought maybe MAC but they sell a black cat back and I have just the mufflers

Hmmmmmm

I have super 40's and I don't recall seeing a flowmaster stamp on them.

I hate to ask this...but is there anyway you can shimmy up under Cobra and see if they are stamped or not????

I would appreciate it my man. I love the sound I have and would like to be able to let people know what I have.
