Before i did my midpipe i was going to consider headers. Are headers ..longtube.. worth the effort and money? I hear they are alot of trouble and usually dont hear good things about them? What kind of gains am i going to be looking at with them? Worth the money??

I've been doing business with Brent at Brenspeed and he told me that on a 2v that headrs should be the last thing I should consider. He said the gain is minimal and should be done if I am looking for that last bit of power. Considering the price and the cost of the install I deceided to put that money toewards a SC system. I met a guy at a car show with a SC'd Stang who had the stock ex. manifolds and he was still tearing up his tires so it didn't affect him much! The cash might be better spent elsewhere. This will probably start a firestorm but I think he knows what he is talking about. Afterall he does have a dyno. Mark

Headers are a pita to install but a complete exhaust should be good for 15-17 rwhp.
Headers alone (long tubes) should be good for about 10 rwhp.
If you're going for bolt-on performance I wouldn't skip doing headers.
I have a full Bassani exhaust so I'm kinda biased toward doing headers.

im 100% for long tubes. they are great. you will notice a huge difference. my rpms come up so smooth and alot quicker. if you look at the stock exhaust manifold. you have four ports going into a pipe that is about 12 inches long. so your craming all that force into a small pipe. where long tubes they have four pipes one for each exhaust port on each side of the motor and the pipes are about 3 feet long. each so you have all that flow which puts less stress on the motor because they flow 100% better. im coming from old school cars as well. which are 2 valve motors. headers are always the first thing that you put on them. with headers and a p51 intake on our new cars the flow is so much better then you go and p and p the heads your looking at about 60-80 rwhp. on my stang i just have long tubes off road h and flowmasters welded in and i had street slicks and i turned a 13.7 in the 1/4 mile and turned a 2.0 60 foot time. i didnt think they were that much of a pita as everyone says they were. and they sound 100% better with long tubes as aposed to stock manifolds and off road h
