Default Computer Tuning

I was wondering if anyone here knows about computer programs that allow you to modify your mustang's computer. My brother has an impala and bought a great setup that lets him tap into his car's computer and then hook it up to his laptop. From there he can tune the car on his own, as well as perform diagnostics. does anyone know anything about this, and where I could get one? I know you can buy programmers, but I want something that goes into an actual computer and gives more feedback.

Thanks in advance

the diablo predator does let you hook up to a desktop/laptop you have to get the pc interface kit for it. read this - http://diablosport.com/downloads/Ford_Pred_manual.txt

you can view the users manual via pdf file on diablosport.com as well.

depends how much you want to spend....aem is by far the best, f.a.s.t. coming in 2nd, but those are full stand alone and are well over $1000. the pms is about $1000, and is the most user friendly of them all. it has a hand held computer, and goes into stand alone after 3500rpms.

For 500$ you can buy a MAF tuner that is installed in the car in your glovebox. With this you can tune your car on the fly. I have used this Pro-M product for 2 years and swear by it, especially for the $. If you put a digital wideband a/f guage on as well, it gives you full dyno tuning on the street. This system works very well.

Can you explain stand alone?
