Its just the idler pulley...they go bad all the time. If you don't fix it soon then it could seize and then you can ruin your belt etc etc. It cost like $12 for a new one and is very simple to fix. Go buy a Haynes or Chiltons or a Ford Repair manual for your car and read up.

 

does it start squeaking right whne u turn on ur car...mostly in the morning? Mine does this and it is my belt...so i would say its definately your belt. Im changing mine soon and i heard the install was pretty easy.

 

get a gatorback belt and a motocraft tensioner and you should be all set

 

It's very, very simple.

The most difficult part will be you trying to figure out how to move the tensioner just to get the belt off.

It's pretty straight forward.

 

where can i find a haynes/chilton manual? do i go to a book store like barnes and noble? or an auto store like autozone or napa? looks ive got some footwork cut out for me.
