New engine??
ok ok lemme refraise that lol i have a 98gt that needs a new motor... i coulddd get a new gt motor ..well i only need a short block but i want a newer DOHC in it...any suggestions?
save more money.
4v swap is not gonna be cheap, espcially if the total cash you have to spend on it is 2K.
Even assuming you are going to install it yourself, your just gonna have a real hard time finding a 4v setup that cheap.
The cheapest ebay setup for a complete engine that is in drivable condition was 5k when I searched it a minute ago.

thanks, i have a ton of money but i dont want to spend that much on a stock motor, i could just buy a gt short block and switch everything over but i then i was just thinking of getting a aluminum block cobra motor.. so its a toss up, either a short block gt motor and do some work, or get a cobra motor and plop that thing in there, i just didnt know if the DOHC new cobra motors were worth all the money and time, or just stick with my gt motor, cause all i did was blow a rod but i didnt take it appart so i dont know if i ruined any cylinder walls, so i was just gonna buy a new motor and pick at the old one little by little
I am fairly sure you cannot swap your 2v stuff onto the 4v block, as the water passages do not line up. I know at least you cannot put 4v heads onto the regular 2v block.
A 4v setup is going to run probably 5k from what ebay says. It will definatly make more power n/a, but with FI you still run up against the weak bottom end (unless its a 03/04 cobra engine).

i dont want to swap cobra parts and gt parts thats not it at all, that would be the biggest pain. i didnt know if i should just get a new short gt block or cobra motor, cause if i do the swap my gt already has alot of work done to it, and what about the bottom end?
i know what your saying about the newer GTs to the older ones, it cant really be done, but lets say i get an older gt short block, new or something like that and do the switch over with all my stuff, what else should be done? bottom wise? cause a new short block is cheap
