Default T-45 problems...please help!

I just bought a King Cobra Clutch kit, and it's sitting on the floor waiting for install. I know for sure the clutch needs to be replaced, but the other problem is I have a feeling my tranny is shot. Whenever I drive WOT, the 1st to 2nd shift always grinds horribly and it also does the same in 4th gear sometimes but not as much. It's not me being a bad driver, because I've driven it hard before without any shifting problems, but recently 2nd and 4th gear seem to be grinding a whole lot. Anyways, I'm wondering if I should just install the king cobra clutch assembly with some royal purple synchromax fluid and hope for the best, or would it be a waste of a clutch if I needed to replace the tranny anyways?

that could all be happening because your clutch need to be replaced but if you do need a new trans and are short of cash go here http://www.tbtrans.com/manual_transmission.htm and scroll down to ford racers you will see

well you can spend a few hundered bucks to have your tansmission torn apart to be checked or you can replace your clutch to see if the problem cures or buy a rebuilt or new trans or get more opinions!!

If your clutch def needs replacing, then it may be slipping and that would cause grinding while trying to shift. Replace the clutch and fluid and see what happens. I did the same exact swap on my 98GT but that was due to the TO bearing going to ****, everything worked smooth when done.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm just hoping it's the throw out bearing or something like that. I'll post an update after I get it replaced.
