Default Underneath Mods

Whats up Gentelmen,
I'm putting away My stang in about 3 weeks for the winter.
Its a 1996 gt stock with 86,000 on it in great shape.
I got 373 gear for the rear.
I want to add off road H pipe and flowmasters to car while I have rear end out of car.
The question is If I want to add nitrous next summer to the car what other mods should I do underneath the car while I'm down there?
Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

I dont know what everyone knows about NOS. But one important rule I found out (the hard way) is make sure your torque converter is an ANTI-Balooning torque converter or you could possibly cause a big nasty mess. Make sure your tranny can handle the power. I don't know what your HP/TQ is on ur 96 but if your car is say around 300+ and your hitting NOS with 125+ figure your tranny has to handle that pay load increase so at least a 450-500HP+ durable tranny rating should be used or you could have problems. Also Subframe connectors and a swaybar to stop body roll and stiffen that frame for when you hit a nice size of NOS like a 125hp or more your frame isnt gonna twist and turn. I dont know if the 96 needed em or not I dont remember the chassis setup on those but the more support your frame and suspension has the better.

A clutch ahhh ok was taking a guess you had an auto trans.. Its gonna be a lil more difficult to use NOS with a manual then with an automatic thats my Opinion of course. automatic jus slam the gas and hold on basically.

So In my opinion you need to get a HD clutch and probably upgrade your flywheel RAM billet steel or factory nodular iron (explosion resistant) flywheels. if you have not already.. I highly suggest you do this or you could have some serious issues when running the juice.
From what I hear good system to go with is ZEX Nitrous Oxide System. All in all the whole setup for NOS can set you back about $1000 after all is said and done with the tranny mods I believe.

Thanks for the reply.
So you are hesitent running nitrous on a manual trans. I will deff keep that in mind Want a supercharger and pi head swap but I'm too poor to put that much cash into her it right now.
Thanks for your help.

Yea nitrous is not cheap if you wanna run it properly. If you dont follow through with the other mods that go along with it your risk goes of up for failure. Im always safe then sorry. Yea automatics are one of the few benefits for NOS setups shift points are usually always the same its the consistency you want in the transmission you want. Example: say your hitting nitrous in your manual and you **** up the shift you can cause a lot of damage. IE you down shift cause ur rushing or w.e u downshift while shooting nitrous O boy you better be praying or you mis shift or somthing omg pray to the gods your in for imminent failure.

Turbo or procharger are the way to go for manual trans imo but both are expensive any S/C system you do thats gonna be done properly and installed correctly is gonna cost you in excess of at least $1000 minimum.

**** i mean i can go out to my car bolt on a zex system for around $450 and run it. But how long will my drivetrain last? LOL I can gurantee you it wont take the punishment very well.

Doing it properly will save you a lot of time and prevent a lot of problems. So its up to you.

Good example my friend had a chrysler new yorker beater he was gonna sell the car for like $1000 I said hey lets go spray it with nitrous until it blows its not worth anything and it will be fun to see how much abuse it can take before it goes. Got 3 shots out of it before we blew the motor and man or man did that car move lol the first time we hit it sprayed it pushed me into the seat pretty good. I wish I had a camera we burned that motor within a few hrs time and that was a 125HP shot rigged up to this POS new yorker that had over 150k miles but the engine was rebuilt at 75k due to some other problem so lol yea you get the picture.

Yea,
The nitrous setup I was looking at was Nitrous Express They have the wide open trottle set up for turning on the nitrous.
Looking at there web site about 1000 when its all said and done with the acc.
Then I think a tune. Super charge going to cost me way more......... deffiantly down the road I will never sell the car so time is not an issue.
Deffiantly not on deck quite yet mostly want the changes I need to make underneath the car to be complete while I have it all tore apart this winter. Should probualy add control arms and clutch to my list also.

def clutch if your going the nos route and the control arms. Be sure to check your flywheel this is important to. I would also not overlook rear sway bar either.

nitrous express is a good kit.... i installed it on a carbed car a week ago... it shouldnt mess your car up... i would suggest a bigger fuel pump while your under that car.. and new fuel filter... its important to not run out of fuel with nitrous... haha.. go a wet shot too
