Default Running open Long Tube Headers

So as I approach the end of my long tube header install. I am wondering weather it will cause any problems to not have my back 2 O2 sensors hooked up. MY budy who knows a good bit about cars assures me it won't. But I was wondering if any of you guys knew for sure. I know the top 2 are required for my car to run properly, but the second two I am not sure about. I was told they are just for emmisions and set off you check engine light. SO, since I plan on running these headers open for a while. I was wondering what you guys had to say about it.

Nope... check engine light will come on after about 15-25 miles

Wont pass emissions, but it will be fine.

It won't really harm anything, but I gotta ask, WHY? The car is probably going to slower and sound like crap. Open headers really only sound good on built engines with lots of compression and a big cam.

I Put long tubes on my 2000 GT and It sounded good. But I wanted it to be toned down a little so I put on Flowmaster 40s series and bought a programmer for my car and turned off the rear o2 sensors. It is definately up to the beholder if the car sounds good so dont listen to others until you have decided yourself. I havent met anyone that hasnt loved the sound of open headers. But not having rear o2s will not hurt your stang in anyway. Good luck

I had a 5.0 that I had to run open headers for a while. Had substantially less toque, and obnoxiously loud cruising. Not a good idea IMO for a daily driver and for an engine without many mods. To each his own though. I have a feeling you will get tired of it after a day or so.

Yeah +1 Plus ur loosing way too much backpressure and you have a chance to cause engine damage especially on cold days.

Again with the backpressure comments. NO BACKPRESSURE IN YOUR EXHAUST SYSTEM IS THE BEST EXHAUST SET UP YOU CAN HAVE AS LONG AS YOU DON'T HAVE TO BIG OF PIPES THAT WILL SLOW THE FLOW AND CAUSE BACKPRESSURE. Please guys do research on things before you try to give out bad advise.

The only problem I can see with open headers is the loudness and the tickets for it.
