Anything can be swapped, the real question is how much work are you willing to do? What are your skills like, etc. If you swap an engine, you need to move the engine, the ECU, possibly the entire drive train (depending on bolt alignment etc), you may need a new wiring harness, you may need to move the motor mounts. Since the motor is of a different configuration you have to consider clearance for the steering column, etc.

The '03 is a 4.6L Mod, the 96GT, is to the best of my knowledge, not. This means there will be work to do.

My opinion, with this and $3 you can get that beer at happy hour; your mileage may vary.

It's people like this that really grind my gears.......Why do people insist on giving out wrong information??

I also am looking to do a swap this winter and would appreciate some USEFUL information concerning neccessary items that need to be taken into consideration when looking for an engine for the swap.

Well, just from poking around classified sections, I've seen a lot more cobra engines for sale than mach 1 engines. I'm gonna guess that it'd be considerably easier and cheaper to find a cobra engine than to hold out for a mach. Generally speaking, 4 valves = 4 valves.

I did give out the wrong the information -- qualified by "to the best of my knowledge" -- an invitation for someone to correct me, which the post immediately after mine did. Thanks to mustangfanatic and uberstang1 for that correction by the way. Please also note that I was responding in the general based on my experience (3 swaps over the past 25 years).

I have no problem admitting that I made a mistake there, I'm new to mustangs. You however appear to feel the need to better your opinion of yourself by putting others down. Its people like you that can't be polite about correcting someone that really grind my gears.

Given a quick look at some engine component date ranges, lots of 98-04, etc -- I'd say he's still in for a fair bit of work.

Talk to "mustangsel" on this forum. He has a '97 GT with a '04 Mach 1 motor in it. I've seen it in person when I bought headers from him. Shoot him a PM.

I can testify to that one! How much work are you willing to do or how much money are you willing to pay!
