Default Need a good tire for snow

I asked this before but I am back again. The stock tires on my 02 won't cut it in the winter. I want a tire thats good in the snow but one I can ride on all year round. In other words, I don't want it to look like a snow tire. Someone mentioned Dunlop M3's but those are out of my range in terms of cost. Are there any decent "all season" tires I can get for around 500-600 for all 4?

If you want a tire to do well in snow, you have to get a 'snow' tire. No way around that. I drove the last two winters on the OEM goodyear gators and never really had a problem. Just start slow (usually in 2nd), avoid hills, and plan stops/turns early.

With the torque our cars have (assuming yours is a V8?), not even snow tires can cope if you're careless.

I've had very good luck with my Continental ContiExtreme Contacts over the last two winters. Then in the summer, they're a very good high-performance tire. No complaints. My Mustang is a daily driver in New England.
(Well, probably not this winter -- found my self a cheap winter beater. THAT's the best solution.)
