yeah I have had a few flowmaster systems and heard a lot also. The 40 are the onlywayto go. 50's are a little deeper, but arnt as loud. If it were up to me, I would tell everyone to buy flowmaster. They have the best tone by far...I personally hate SLP....no offense all you LM guys...lol

single chambers are the only way to go as far as flowmasters go...they are considered "race" mufflers and are awesome. And someone use an H pipe instead of a X pipe for once ,

ive had both and 50's seemed to be a bit deeper at idle and anything under 2000rpmand a hair raspier at higher rpms. i personally like the super 40's myself but thats just me.

and i have an o/r H on my flows

I don't like the way 50's sound on Mustangs. I've heard a 99 GT with them and it sounded real weak. I have 40 series (Origanal 40 series, not the Delta Flow crap on the American Thunder cat back) with a BBK H-Pipe and the sound is sweet. It's nice and loud anything after 2000 RPM's and can be nice and quiet under that. I'm switching to BBK L/T's and aBBK H-Pipe with my new engine and I can't wait to hear what that sounds like.

The 40 series is a 2 chamber muffler and the 50 series is a 3 chamber. The case on the50's are a little longer than the 40's.Like some others have said, the 50's are a little deeperand quieter. Not too much quieter but you would definately notice if you switched.

hotrod is right, the 50s have an extra chamber. This chamber is what basically removes the interior resonance of the 40 series mufflers. I have an offroad prochamber and 2 chamber flows and my friend had a catted x pipe with 50 series flows on his '03 GT and at WOT his was really every bit as loud outside the car. If I got flows again i'd get the 50s, i hate my interior resonance. His was nice b/c you could cruise and not have the bass beat your heat in the car, but still got loud when u wanted it to be.
