WoRth it or NOT??
No problem. Thanks
Another cheaper modification that is worth the money, would be a set of underdrive pulleys. It'll really wake your car up and it'll get through the RPM's much quicker than before. Around $200 bucks and $60 bucks to install depending on you having a pulley puller, impact gun or your shops hourly rate.

If you want to get the more expensive mod that needs to be done... get your exhauste how you want it... thats pretty much the most expensive part then everything else is 400 here and there. (other then s/c)

He's right about the gears and pullies, they'll get you to high rpm's fast and they'll work with eachother in a way but the only bad thing is you'll get crap MPG after you do it.

Not quite. Keeping the same driving style as before you might see a 1-2mpg drop, but if you change your driving habits and take advantage of what 4.10's & a 5 speed can do, you might actually see an increase in mileage in town. Also the UDP's will help with gas mileage too.

so how will you "take advatage" of what a 5 speed and 4:10s can do, 4:10s can make your rpms higher faster, thus more gas consumed, also the udps get your rpm's up there faster too, so wtf?

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the characteristics of a SOHC 4.6 mod motor with stock gears, either being 2.73's or 3.27's...but they take a bit of gas to get going if you don't want to lug the engine. Also you'll find yourself lugging around in gears unless you downshift, this right here is why so many people experience such horrible gas mileage with these cars.
The transmission is poorly geared, along with the engines powerband.
From a stop, you will be able to ease out of the clutch with not even 3/4 of the amount of gas pedal it took with stock gears to get it rolling. Thus, you'll have used the throttle less to get the car moving & you'll quickly get into ideal RPM's to shift into 2nd gear, or straight to third gear. The gears will allow the engine to run without lugging short shifting to third gear & you'll be able to get into 4th or 5th gear with HALF the amount of throttle & in a much quicker time.
If you do happen to own a Mustang with stock gears, pull out of your driveway. Come to a complete stop, put your car in 2nd gear and try to ease out of the clutch and accellerate without putting your foot into the throttle much. It's going to be difficult to get it going without bucking, lugging or using more throttle. Then repeat, this time starting in 1st gear, notice how the car got going much better compared to your 2nd gear attempt? This is similar to what your car will feel like with a gear swap, only it'll be even BETTER than the little experiment I just gave you.
I'm not picking on you or trying to be a smartass, I'm just speaking from experience.

K thanks for answering my question, i know you werent being a smartass so i have another question and im not trying to be a smart ***, what about with an auto. its just gas break basically the more you put your foot in it the higher the rpm goes (even more with 4:10 and UDPs) so wouldnt that mean worse MPG? since you have no control over the rpms? well you do but, hard to explane, ummm more throttle = way high rpm with 4:10s so more gas consumption? or wait wait, is there anything you can do to control your rpms with an auto?? i got it finally!
...so yeah...did i even make any sence in this post or is it way to jumbled to understand?
i can reword it if needed. [>:]

Yeah your post was alittle confusing
Glad to see you understood I wasn't trying to be a weenie.
For an automatic, like you figured, it's a bit different. You don't quite have control of the transmission in the way you do with a 5 speed. The automatic is just less efficient all across the board and there isn't exactly much you can do about it. Most people with automatics will see 1-2mpg losses with 4.10-4.30 gears. Automatics are at such a disadvantage (HP/TQ wise & getting down the track in the underpowered 2v) that they need all the gear you are willing to throw at them, most people understand that and aren't afraid to go with 4.10's.
