Hey guys,
I'm a new mustang owner and eager to learn. I got rid of my 86 GN this summer to get into something newer, and found myself in my 99 GT Vert with 50k. I'm trying to read as much as possible and learn without asking stupid questions, but I have a feeling this one's going to be one of those common sense questions. As a poor college student, I'm trying to beef up my exhaust and slowly add to my bolt ons. My buddy has SLP Loudmouths and I find them to be too loud for my taste, I think I'm a more of a traditional Flowmaster kinda guy. I was wondering if you can just weld 40 Series mufflers onto the stock setup, and get any improvement in sound, or if you also have to do a mid-pipe? If this isn't possible at all, I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer to do a whole cat back system...but please give me some feedback on comparable systems or mufflers, since I'm only familiar with SLP, Flowmaster, and Magnaflow. Any advice in how I should go about this would be great. Thanks guys

well welcome to the forums and the mustang world...and what you want to do is completly possible, just find 2.5" in/out mufflers that match yours (a GT guy could give u exacts), but what you'll find most ppl say is flows drone, and most ppl go with magnaflow, borla, or mac...all have really good sounds
Ya it was a Grand National, and yes I regret selling it everyday I wake up, but it was becoming to much for me right now. It was my first car, and demanded so much. It was my daily driver, and I couldn't put my baby Nat through that much work anymore. I really wanted to garage it and get a daily driver, but my funds didn't allow that. It started to need more and more work as I had it for 3 years, so I had to get into something more reliable and newer. Eventually I'll have another one. For the time being I have to build a badass mustang.
GET IT BACK!!!! LOL thats understandable.. you should have just bought a little honda or something.. But walcome to the stang world where we get spanked by camaros on daily basis LOL j/k man.. I used to go so school with girl that drove a GN she had no idea what it was.. it was the cleanest GN i have seen. I asked her about it one day and she said " I guess my dad has had it since it was new he tells me its a nice car" I wanted to take it from her and then slap her!!! LOL
well I gotta go take a finance mid term later

My suggestion is magnaflow cat back with the magnapaks, they are pretty quiet on the inside but they are nice and loud on the outside. I picked mine up on ebay for $330 plus $50 shipping new on ebay. Ebay is deffinitly the place to go because you can get exhaust on there about $200 cheaper than anywhere else and most sellers have a best offer option.
