Default shortblock/longblock

whats the difference of a shortblock to a longblock, i think i've heard before shortblock is just block and internals, longblock is complete motor, is that correct? because i'm looking at motors and see pics of shortblocks w/ just block and internals, and complete engines and got kinda confused, heres the page i was lookin at if that helps anything

that depends on your definition of a "complete motor", it is by no means a turn key motor

what are you talking about a short block not being a turn key motor? yeah thats what i was asking, i was like referring a long block to be like a crate engine, it's all complete just gotta drop it in the car hook it up to whatever you need to. by the way that car is absolutely beautiful

short block = block and rotating assembly. meaning cam, crank and pistons
long block= block, rotating assembly and heads sometimes valve covers but not usually. You don't get any accessories or intake with a long block.
If it does not say Crate motor or turn key it probably is not a complete motor.

listen to bramas a long block has no intake or accesories (water pump, alt,intake,valve covers, coil paks, nothing) You have to use everything from your old motor. Short block has even less (no heads). If you are getting a pi motor you will also need new flywheel, and a new intake. (dont forget tube under intake old one wont work). Also if your ever going to s/c this motor you better get 18cc dished pistons to keep your compression down. Throw water pump away and replace it while your in there. (bitch to do after motors in)Hmmm cant think of anything else right now but i just did all this so i kinda know whats involved here. Might as well have a forged bottom too. lol Endless huh? I had all this done and new motor mounts for about 6k. Installed and finished in 5 days. A $500 tune and i was all set. Dyno 517rwhp and i have stock headers lol. I have a set of bassini mid lengths and o/r x pipes in the shop but i really like the sound from my prochamber so its stayin like this for now.

oh alright then yeah thats where i was wrong, i thought longblock was the same thing as a crate motor, thanks
