Default Longtubes and emmisions

I am going to start doing some bolt ons, and I was wondering if longtube headers ruin emmisions even when you are running cats? is is possible to run cats with LT's?

Yes you can run cats with LT`s. As long as your CEL isn`t on and they don`t do a visual inspection, then you should pass.

I am also curious about this. I've heard it both ways, it will and it won't

what he said is right it depends were u take it and if they do the vis and if you are throwing any codes but if you have it setup right you will be fine

techincally no... in NC longtubes are straight up illegal... the good news is that unless your in california nobody actually looks.. I welded in a diferent lookin section of pipe... "they are high flow cats" just in case... but as long as you dont have a check engine you will pass emissions, I dont know what state your in, but unless they put it in you pipe you should be good - and even then 99% of cat less modern cars still pass. so basically dont worry about it

I'm in NC, too. I'm a tech at a Ford dealership and we only check stupid things like lights and if the car has cats. I'm new to NC and I had no idea that LT's were illegal. If you get pulled over, could a cop give you a ticket for having them?

im from ct and i run an emissions station and we do a visual check and if ur check engine light is on u automatically fail. as long as theres a cat the visual will pass but no cats = fail

how do u prevent the check engine light from going on after the install? I am looking at getting BBK LT's and which as I understand hook up to the cats right ?

when u get long tubes u need a new mid pipe that works with the longer header and u would get mil eliminators to keep the light off with out cats
