Yes, its called the T56. It is about $2800 for an install package (driveshaft, new crossmember for tranny, tranny, etc.)

Yes. There are 2 different T56s. Theres the Viper Spec and the 03/04 cobra t56. Go to SVTPerformance.com and go into the SN-95 section. Search for this subject. THers at least 2 guys there that I know of that have done this swap.

A t-56 has nearly the same final gear ratio as your current transmission, so no it would not reduce your RPM on the highway.

The biggest advantage of a 6 speed is you don't get that massive falloff from 4th to 5th gear. This is why I stuck with a 5 speed when I did my tranny swap. I don't plan on racing above about 120 MPH anytime soon anyway

Look how much money you'd really be saving in the gas mileage difference (which isn't much, really). Changing the tranny just for that isn't really worth it....nor is swapping out gears.

Now, if you want to spend the money, swap in a 9 inch rear and get 2 different carriers, one with 4.11's and one with 3.00's. Then you could swap back and forth in just a couple hours and have the best of both worlds. Or, you could get a quick change rear end...

Once again, the 56 has a nearly (I think even identical to the 3650) identical final drive ratio to his 5 speed. You will not be seeing a signficant difference in highway RPM.

Even if it were different, it wouldn't be worth it. There are T-56's with 0.50:1 final ratios.

All of the 56 that I have seen offered for mustang swaps have the .64 or .67 (I forget) final ratio.

If you could get a .50 in 6th, along with a .80 or so in 5th, I think it would be worth it, simply because you could run 4.10s or 4.30s and still tach nothing on the highway.

Yeah, I agree that it would not be worth it, definitely not going to save you over $3,000 in gas.
