Default Oil

I'm going to change my oil for the first time since I got my car, today. What's the best type I can put in there? I was thinking about getting something rated at 6k miles or so, some extended life but changing it at 3k anyhow. I just have a bonestock (for now) 03 GT. Thanks guys! Oh, and what weight? 20 weight, right, and 90 for the differential?

I usually pick up a 5qt 5w-30 mobil 1 from Wal Mart for about $21. Before I was blown I just went with the standard oil though. They say once you go synthetic not to go back though...fyi

what mileage is on the car now? i got mine with 6600miles and started running Royal Purple 10w-30 from the beginning.
i have heard that if you run synthetic on a car with alot of miles, the seals and gaskets might begin to leak

Mobil 1 5W-20 FTW. All the talk about Synthetics being only for high or low mile, or not to go back, is all myths and BS. It wont make older engines leak, you don't need to flush it to put it in, you can go back to conventional at any time.

Example:

Mobil 1 is factory fill in:

Acura RDX

Aston Martin

Bentley Amage and Bentley GT

Cadillac CTS, CTS-V, XLR, XLR-V, SRX and STS and STS-V

Chevrolet Corvette C6 and Z06

Chevrolet SSR

Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS

Chrysler 300C SRT-8 and Crossfire SRT-6

Cobalt SS

Dodge Ram SRT-10

Dodge Charger SRT-8, Magnum, and Viper

Jeep Cherokee SRT-8

Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicles

Mercedes SLR

Mitsubishi EVO III

Pontiac GTO

All Porsche vehicles

Saturn Red Line

Viper SRT-10

Those are pretty high dollar cars that the factory would like to not have to do warranty work on. It's safe to run Synthetics whenever you want, better sooner then later.

EDIT: Don't forget to get a good filter (I use Mobil 1s) to go with it. Your Mustang deserves the best of the best when it comes to vital running and maintenance components. If you go with Fram filters, only use thier premium types. The standard orange box Fram filter is trash.

Unless you actually like crawling under your car, switch over to Amsoil full synthetic. 25k mile changer interval with warranty.
