Default Big problem...

hey guys, i was driving my 2002 GT home and i was going downhill and started to brake to make a turn, then all of a sudden my engine turns off and i lose all of my sterring and braking, it all shuts off, i had to put it in first quicky drop the clutch and pull the e brake from crashing into a house, this is the second timne this happened to me, last time was a while back, probably 4 months ago. Does any one know what caused this? any 1 have the same experience or problem? thx

i believe your problem is the idle air controller located near the intake. their may be a malfunction in it and it only kills if there is no throttle applied. it doesn't happen offten, but when it does, the problems you are experiencing can be very dangerous as i learned myself. you need to talk to the ford shop and see about replacing it. i believe the part is about 80 bucks and if this is the problem that i just described, then getting that new part should solve the problem.

i had that problem in my old camaro a few years back. i asked a mechanic, and he said it was probably a short in the steering wheel.

My stangs brand new and its already happened to me once. For no reason the car just shut off. Thank god I was going straight on flat pavement and no one else was around. I hope this wont happen again.

You better get that checked out, cause u have the same problem, give it to Ford and they will fix it for u, it will take about 2-3 days, its worth it cause ur life may be in danger as well as other peoples, if ur going down hill like me going 40 ur screwed so fix it as soon as you can, luckily it only happened to me at 15MPH.

ok FORD gave back the car and said that something was wrong with the idle on the car, i get it back and am driving home, it shuts off again, next day i bring it back to the dealer and tell them its not fixed, they give it to another mechanic,3 days later i call and they tell me that they replaced the computer of the car, got a new airbox, and they said that my gas cap was loose a little and that air got in and caused the car to turn off, i replaced the stock cap with the ones where u need a key to open so they bitched about that, so i go to pick up my car expecting everything to go well, i get the keys turn on the car, and i notice it right away, the exhaust on the car sound like the ones on a 3.8!! it frikin sounds like a rice, the car does not rumble, i start driving it home and the car is quiet, there is no roar like on any other GT's, its half as loud as it was before,WTF IS GOING ON!?!?!??!?!?

that's weird...is it that dramatic a change? My first thought was you said they replaced the air box....but that would only effect the motor sound....slightly....they couldn't have messed with your exhaust???? Are you firing all 8 cylinders?
