Default Random Question

Hey guys, I don't even own a mustang, but plan on it within the next half of a year. Since it will probably be a gift (for good grades, 20th birthday, and younger car having a car worth twice as much as mine) i want to start saving for some things for it.

My question is about the difference between a low mileage and high mileage mustang.

Say you get an 02 with 100 grand on the O, since this would be considerably cheaper than a 40k mile car. If you rebuild the motor, upgrade suspension, replace exhaust etc etc, what is the point in getting a lower mileage car? It just seems that youre replacing lower mileage parts with brand new ones.

Besides the time factor, would it be that much more money to have everything redone?

Default RE: Random Question

With mileage comes wear on every part of the car not just the engine and suspension. If you plan on rebuilding the motor with high performance parts and have the money to do so a 100k mile mustang would be okay. A 100k mile mustang (if taken care of) would be fine even if you didnt plan to rebuild. One thing to consider in buying a low mileage car of any make is why someone is getting rid of it. Is it a lemon, did the previous owner's family increase in size, etc. There are just too many factors involved in the process of deciding whether or not to get older or newer. It would be a matter of opinion and personal choice. I have an 04 GT which I bought with 13,000 miles on the clock. I ran a carfax, the car was always serviced by Ford when the previous owner had it (checked that out too), and the previous owner was a middle aged (47) lady. I guess some could argue that buying a lower mileage car gives you a better, stronger platform to start modding on. I say thats BS. I bought mine because it was clean, had no scratches, and it has been taken care of.
