Default question on hoods

I am thinking about ordering a hood from carbon ware, but i am wondering what the difference in a lift off hood and normal hood are because the lift off hood is almost half the price. Thanks

Lift off hoods you do NOT use your hinges or latches. It means what it says, when you have to get to your engine compartment you have to unlatch 4 post and Lift the hood up off the car. Not for the average owner, mostly race applications only... There are no structure supports to use any latches or hings and if you tried your hood would shred the FG and give a nice present to the cars behind you on the freeway...

PS you didn't need to post or bump, searching would have given you the same results...

where is the best place to get a hood at a good price?

If your East coast I would go with HO fibertrends (ohio), If your west coast id go with Carbonware (Cali). Same quality, less shipping...

Brandons98GT: you don't need hood pins but they are usually recommended.

Now this doesn't look like a cowl hood it looks more like a cobra R http://www.carbonware.com/ProductDet...ode=FG%2D17004 I want a 3 inch cobra R and they only have a 2 inch, but I think that the 3 inch cowl they have listed is actually a 3 inch cobra R. what do you guys think?
