Default Trying 4:10 Gears

Im going to give the 4:10's a shot. Im also going to buy a new shifter and programmer at the same time so I can get rid of the speed limiter as well as correct the speedo from the gear change. Im leaning towards the steeda Tri ax and the diablo predator tuner. Any suggestions?

LOL I belive the 4.10's will limit your speed just fine. They redline in fifth at like 120-130 if im not mistaken.

If thats true it might be a little much for me. I dont really see myself going much faster than 130 but Im not sure I want that to be my red line in 5th gear.

You'll do fine with the 4.10's. The Tri-Axe and the Predator will be a help too.

I wouldn't sweat it too much unless you want to mix it up with the NASCAR crowd in your Mustang.

you can actually go well over 130mph w/4.10s if you have more modifications to your car. 150mph is not a far cry with that gearing. I hit 140mph w/my car completely stock, & 150mph w/1/2 my stuff done minus the gear. The 4.10 will let you make better use of 5th gear, so you can reach well over 130mph. Stock, our 4.6's are geared way too tall. As for the shift, I have a Pro 5.0...get one.

From what I hear, it wont hurt your top end too much, just makes more use of fifth gear. Typical install prices range from 200-300 bucks, you just have to look around. Either a TriAx or the Pro5.0 will do just fine, I just ordered the TriAx. I got a sweet deal on it and any shifter is better than stock.

4.10's on my '02GT will get me up to about 165mph (not that I've ever been that far lol!). Its likely that you will have a higher top speed after switching to 4.10's because you will be higher up in the rpm band in 5th gear.
