Default mach 460 question

hey guys, not sure if this is in the right place or not but, on the mach 460 i know that you can not do that much without redoing the whole system. My question is if it is possilbe to just replace the stock speakers with better ones since the system already had amps i think it would sound pretty good. What do you guys think about this.

I was confronted with the same issue. I blew a front speaker. I went to one car audio shop and he said I cant change anything, if I did I would have to replace everything... Then some people say not true. I email crutchfield.com with my question. They replied with, you can replace the factory speakers. But you cant replace the headunit without replacing the amps and having to rewire the speakers. I bought a cheap speaker for my door and it works fine.

Its a 6x8 you can also buy adapters to make it a 5 1/4" and I believe with a little tiny bit of cutting you can put 6 1/4" in. I want to get a set of 6 1/4" component speakers all around.

I thought all the speakers in the Mach 460 were 2 ohm? So, you're sticking aftermarket (usually 4 ohm) speakers in their place? And it sounds ok? How about when you crank it up?

Watch out you don't smoke an amp running 4ohm speakers
