Default H pipe Help

Long story short, I now have an offroad MAC H pipe. Its not in yet but so far people have been telling me the check engine light is going to go on, and cops are gonna hammer me if they dont see the cacs in there. I know I could hollow out the cacs and bolt them back on, but what about the check engine light. Is there any way of tricking the computer into thinking I still have them. Its an 02 by the way.

Buy MIL Eliminators or get a Tuner.

The check engine light WILL come on. The O2 sensors (if installed) will not read a difference between the front and rear sensors. That will trigger a fault code, and Check Engine will illuminate. If you have to run cat-less, get some Mil eliminators or a tuner that allows you to dissable the O2 fault codes. If you already havecapable tuner, you can already do this.

Personally, I went with the Cat-On X. No fault codes, no problems with inspections, "legal", and there is not much (if any) real loss in power. Besides, I like the X better.

Here is a link to the DiabloSport web page for the Mustang Tuner. The Rear O2 sensor delete function om the right side is what I am refering to.

or if you dont want to spend several hundred dollars, you can just buy MIL eliminators....they trick your car into thinking the cats are still there. i got my mil eliminators for $25 and that includes shipping. as far as the cops messing with you....dont worry about that. i havent been pulled over yet for my car beeing too loud. i dont know where you live....but where i live there are red-necks with loud *** trucks (louder than my car) and they never get pulled over either.....so there isnt much to worry about....and if they do pull you over its doubtful they will get on their knees and look under the car to see if you have cats.

Yah I found a pair of MILs for a cheap price too. I dont know if I should get a tuner because I dont know how to use one and unless its pretty simple I will wind up messing something up. And buying a tuner just for the cats isnt worth it.

SCT > Diablosport in every way possible (unless there are no local SCT dealers)

I would definatly want to spend a little more either way and get the tuner. Buy the brand of handheld your local shop (one you trust at tuning) can tune.

The handheld can not only fix your CEL problem with the catless pipe, but if/when you install gears you can correct the speedometer with the handheld. And if you plan on doing more mods down the road your shop (or another via internet) can send you custom tunes for your handheld.
