Yea you can do it. But you better get the six speed tranny with it to make it complete, Hell you might as well get the irs too. Wtf just buy a 03/04 cobra. Wait i think i will. LOL[sm=headbang.gif]

 

the motor can be found for like 13, installation+ tranny would be like 3 or 4k, or you could just get an 03 04 cobra for like 17-20

Are you serious that's crazy high. I've seen wrecked Cobras(beyond repair) go for 10k max. Start hitting up some auctions...

 

You have to buy the motor/tranny together and the cpu for it, theres a shop that charges 7k to do a cobra conversion to a gt here in oklahoma. You get motor/tranny/installation/hood (not bumpers)for 7k i beleive.

 

Last i looked at a Mustang trader mag the mach's were going for low $20's in very good condition and the terminators were ranging from $28-$32. With New GT500's going for $20K over sticker it seems to raise the prices of the used desirable models. Recently in my town the last GT500 just sold for $63K. One question I have is concerning the computer(s). I have read that my '99GT computer would be fine with a 4v motor like from a Mach 1. Is that true? I believe what I read is that some wires may have to be added to in the engine bay to reach the spot they are to be attached to, otherwise the computer could be reflashed to work with the 4v. Just curious as a KB SC would be a lot simpler and cheaper but www.karkraft.com had some New Factory Mach 1 motors for $3900. for automatic transmission vehicles. Even had the shaker scoop with them. i got that setup, 2000 gt body cobra crate engine, i got a tko 6 speed cause the gt 5 speed wont work very well haha found that out the hard way,... forget the irs.. though, i prefer a cobra with the solid rear axel gt setup. i swear off the line feels waymore firmin mine than in my friend bill j's 03 stock cobra. his is way better in the corners than mine but i dont mind,
the whole process can be done for cheaper than buying a cobra , IF you have the gt already. you also might as well get exsaust, flywheel and improved clutch parts for the tranny as well cause your car will love you more. and stock f bodys will tremble by your mere presents
