Does anyone know how Cam Long Tube headers are? Are they descent, do they fit properly, clearance issues? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Cam?

Is this a brand? Stick with BBK, SLP, MAC (yuck, but lots of people do it (cheap) with good results) or any of the bigger mustang brands.

Yeah Cam is the Brand name. Mustang Wharehouse had them up on ebay Brand New for $349. They are T-304 Stainless Steel and they look friggin nice! I have brand new BBK's, but they have that ding on the driverside tube, I just don't like that!

The "ding" is a mandrel bent (diameter increased so there isno loss in the size ofthe pipe at the bend)part of the pipe made for extra clerance on I beileve the steering shaft. It will have absolulty no effect whatsoever on performance.

I am running the BBK LTs, and I thought the same thing when I got em. I called BBK and they confirmed it was on purpose. With the results I had/have on the car I think its more than confirmed.

I do know and relized that the "ding" is for steering shaft clearance, but there's no way it can be considered a Mandrel Bend! To do this you have to either heat it up and use an expander on the inside while you bend it on the outside or is molded like that from the beginning. The clearance ding on my header was clearly beaten in with a friggin hammer. It has half quarter marks all over it. roughly 7 or 8 of them. Hitting it with a hammer will give the "effect" of a mandrel bend, but there's no way the same amount of air can flow through that flattened hole. I mean it's really flat, there's just no way! Also my weld look kinda chizmo, all globbed up? I bought them brand new, but from a private party, so there's no getting another set from BBK. The ding did appear to be widened, but it's def. not a mandrel bend!

The part where they weld the tubes to the upper flange. the inside is kinda scary on two of the eight ports. Has anyone tried to grind away some of this to enhance flow. You really shouldn't heen a 1/4 of globbed weld! If I grind the weld down a little will I have any problems with the weld cracking? The weld is closing the exhaust tube down just a little, but I want more flow dammit! I posted some pics. It's hard to eally see how bad that dent is because I wrapped them with DEI Heat Wrap. I ran just short on the first one, so I match the 2nd one with the same length. That sh.t sucked to do. Very itchy and lots of repetitions. Took like 6 hours!
