why does everyone upgrade the T45 and go with the T56 and also how do u know the difrence between the clutch goin or the transmission goin bad this is my first stick.Sometimes it grinds o gotta play with it to go in rev and it seems real easy to slide the shifter in and out of gear.The pedal is nice ad stiff thoe

Tranny sounds like the problem.

Someone else can fill you in on T56 over T45. I assume it's stronger, but I'd be guessing.

what year is your mustang? sounds like the common problem the tr3650 has with grinding gears when cold.

t56 is a lot stronger.. and it is a 6-speed.. the t45 isnt as strong.. my t45 does the same thing. It grinds goin into second sometimes.. so i hella baby it..

Ah, yes. I'm forgetting all the common Mustang issues already.

The TR3650 transmission has a lot of problems with 2nd and 3rd gear grinding. There was actually a TSB from Ford about it. Within certain mileage, you can get it fixed at a dealer for warranty replacement. The issue has to do with the 2nd and 3rd synchros and forks, if I remember right. As far as reverse goes, I remember mine was rather difficult on a regular basis as well. I found that if I went up to first gear, then down to reverse it worked perfectly 90% of the time. But straight into reverse was a bitch most times.

And like the other guys said, yeah...six speed and fairly tough.

its a 96gt t45 I just want it to last as long as i can. If not cant i make it real strong to hold it up i know cobras have it so it must have some pluses

im running the tko500 pro750... its a very strong built tranny, no problems so far with some track runs in with sticky D/R's and some street abuse too.

thats because the manual says to put it in a forward gear before shifting into reverse, every time.. I go 1st 4th R
