Default Leak in EVAP System

I bought a 97 cobra a while back and the CEL come on when I was driving home from buying it. Needless to say I was really pissed. Anywho, I had the code pulled and i forget the number (p0442 maybe) but it was a small leak in the evap system. I said screw fixining it because im killing the environment anyway. I was planning on waiting till the emissions test came up, and it finally did. [:@] Anyone have this problem? Did you fix it, or did you go to a shop? How much?

thanks

Mine 96 GT had the same problem. I had a crack in the rubber grommet on the tank in which the filler neck goes into and a new gas cap fixed my problem. May be a starting spot to look

Most of the time..its a poor seal on the as gas cap itself...Either at some point not tight(loose cap)enough to seal,,or the seal on the cap itself bad...start with a gas cap(fairly cheap) and clear the code...if it comes back..have to start over....
