05 GT Headlamp Installation ?
Thanks, gentlemen, for all the good info on this board. I'm not new to Mustangs as I've owned an '89, a '94, and now an '05, but I am new to working on them much myself. I've usually left most areas stock, so my mechanical skills have been limited.
Forgive me if this is a simple question that any rookie should know, but I need some help with headlamp installation on the '05 and later Mustangs. Someone vandalized my '05 GT and shattered the driver's side headlamp assembly. I've gotten all the pieces out and I'm ready to install the replacement assembly. The first thing I see is that the new lamp won't go in from the front no matter what angle or approach I take.
Does the front bumper (or bumper cover) and grille have to come off to access headlamp installation? Many thanks.

Removal and Installation Remove the front bumper cover. Remove the push pin. Remove the 3 headlamp mounting bolts.[/ol] To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) .[/ul][/ul] Remove the bulbs from the headlamp assembly. Remove the headlamp assembly. To install, reverse the removal procedure.[/ol] i have a detailed picture of the installation. if you want it, the only way to send it is email. this site wont let me post it.
Incubus1275 -- Many thanks, friend, for the information. I'm not sure whether that bumper cover removal is a job for an amateur like myself or whether I should just take it to a body shop. I might try to do the job myself tomorrow. In any case, I appreciate your help and willingness to share info.
I would also like to see the diagram or picture you mentioned if you are at a place where you can send it without much trouble. My address is mcclung@nwscc.edu . Thanks.
