Metra makes a harness, read this write up. I did it about a month ago.

you dont have to re-do everything. theres an amp integrated adapter you can buy to make everything work with an aftermarket stereo. i forget whats its called but if you go to a best buy or circuit city they should know what it is. if you where planning to rewire everything anyways then your best bet is to get a nice 4 channel anp and some nice components front and back. and for a little more bass you can throw a sub in there too. unfortunately that might cost a bit.
+500 - i think people just make this **** up... and the installer that did that just sold you a bunch crap - the mach series are about the best stock speakers you can buy (ecluding harmon or something)

Hey man I put a Pioneer Touchscreen Dvd head unit in my 00' GT. I didn't use any of the stock amps. I bypassed them, ran new speaker wire to all the stock speakers in my car. I also put in subs, it doesn't sound to bad right nowbut I plan on putting in a component set of speakers and changing all the stock speakers.. Its not that hard ...but if you change the stock speakers the system will sound alot better.

the head unit is the determing factor for people system that sound like a$$ with stock speakers....
but nobody is going to argue that stock is nearly as good as aftermarket - im just saying that with the right eq - a stock system (mach 1000) can sound pretty dayum good.

While we are on the subject, where/can I get tweeters that are in the mirror area inside the door that you get w/Mach system. I DO NOT have a Mach system but would like to put tweeters up there.

With a mach 460 you don't have to replace everything to change stuff, but there is a crap load of wires to go through.. its alot more complicated than normal. People probably just say this because they can't figure it out.
I had 4 8 inch kicker squares in my trunk with a pioneer dehp8400. This was before I realized they were too dam loud. Plus all 4 speakers weighed in at a little over 160 pounds. Car ran almost a half second slower at the track with them in.

I had two harness plugs and the antenna plug. That would total 3, I think thats what you are talking about. Pretty easy just match wires. It will all be easy to match. This is the head unit I had. You need the harness that I mentioned.
