blew out spark plug
alright listen to this ihave never heard of anything like it...my buddy has a2000 gt i was with him when he was driving down the road stoped at a stop light and when he hit the gas again we heard a ticking noise followed by BOOM!! so we pulled over and i told him hes finally goin to get to build his motor haha he didnt think it was funny though anyways i immediatly found the problem.. the coil on cylinder #6 was all "clumped" together and i took it out and the boot was melted to the sparkplug which was no longer in the head!! well it stripped his head so we took it to get tapped and i was wondering if that will even hold under full accelaration or not??? we got it bak and it feels fine anyone heard of this happening??

RE: blew out spark plug
Yes it's an unfortunate problem in the 99-00 GT's.
PM me for more information...It happened to me a month ago, same cylinder. I did LOTS of research on the problem. I wouldn't take it to a regular shop to tap it, or swap heads either. Just shoot me a PM and I'll tell ya all about it.

RE: blew out spark plug
oh and when we took the plug out it was really messed up the electrode was completly wat seemed like if i took a new one and hit it with a hammer a couple times wat causes that

RE: blew out spark plug
Yeah the prong on mine was fused to the electrode and melted the threads as well. The cause of that is when the plug was pushed out, it got bounced around really hard in the plug chamber, thats the clicking sound you heard. The electrode was bouncing up and down with the compression and combustion of the cylinder throught the 4 strokes. Thats why it was warped like mine.
Oh and I had Bosche plugs in from the last owner, and that was a big contributer to the problem! ALWAYS USE MOTORCRAFTOR BETTER PLUGS WITH MUSTANGS! I couldn't believe I was runnin the bosches when I pulled them all out to change them.
And always torque them to 15ft-lbs and thread them by hand using a small rubber hose fitted to the top of the plug.
