Well I called up my well known shop and got quoted a little over 900 for gear install and right a way I think it seems really high. Im looking at 3.73. If there is anyone in the tucson area that knows of a good place could you let me know.

 

is that just install or gears incl.....just install i paid 225

Not sure who you called, but even a "well-known" mechanic shop will overcharge you. The key is, it can't just be a mechanic shop. You need to find a well known tuner in your area, who specializes in 4.6L cars, or high performance cars. Those are the guys who know what they are doing, still charge you $125/hr., but since unlike a mechanic, they get it done in 2 hrs and you pay $500, instead of a mechanic taking 3 days and charging you $90/hr. then adding up to your $900 quote.

 

well the place i called was chuck hawk auto and he speacilizes in fords and he kept telling me that i would need a new posi and other bs so im trying to find some one else

 

$900 for gears and install is a raping. Shop around more.

 

I took mine to Ford and they were only $600

 

paid 125 for my swap definitly find somebody else
