super chargers
Hey I cant decide to go roots, twin screw, or centrifical. I am leaning towards the twin screw since it is a upgrade to the new cobra. But like the centrifical because the inter cooler thing. I dont want to pull timing out of the car thats working backwards. But a after cooler would not be that bad either I guess. Just dont want to detinate and blow a motor. Any ideas?

When done I want the car in the 10's so I just want to do it once not upgrade later.

I'm leaning toward the Kenne Bell twin screw. They claim you don't need an intercooler because thetwin screw design is more efficent and therefore cooler. But it seems to me that an intercooler would allow you to run more boost. When I get my ducks in a row, I plan to call them to discuss the options for their s/c kit.

They also claim that headers (esp. shorty) and exhaust upgrades produce almost no horsepower gain for my car. I have a premium GT and it has a pretty stout looking exhaust with an H-pipe so... I'm now unsure about replacing it. I guess the money I was planning to use for the exhaust would go well toward Steeda springs, X2 ball joints, Bumpsteer tie rod ends, and aftermarket shocks. Yea... That's the ticket...

The cnetrifugal's claim of an intercooler is workable on almost any blower. The thing you don't realize is KB's twin screw has an intercooler bilt in.
You pull back timing to keep from detonating.
I think you should go turbo, and do a lot more research on the subject.

the intercooler is not built in but because of the design of the twin screw is more eficiant and works like a after cooler or inter cooler but is not actually one it self. You can have after coolers on roots wich is cool also. The reason you dont want to pull out timing is because you are working against youself losing hp by pulling out timing just to put more boost. So with a inter cooled or what ever cooled is better because you use the boost with more timing that builds more hp. I have been doining a lot of research and have friends with turbos and super chargers. I have been looking at turbos and found a kit that said it would put 800 hp to the rear tires(probably not a stock block or 2v to be guessing but would be awsome on the street.) Eithere way any information is good information even if wrong because some times good ideas come from it. But thanks for the try.
PALEASE.
I said it has one built in, not that it is one.
Boyle's law states that when air is compressed, it heats up, and heated air's volume increases.
It WILL hold true weather you boost with a turbo or a twin screw.

I definately do not know everything about superchargers but, unless you are speaking metaphorically, the KB doesn't have a built in intercooler. It certainly does not have an air-to-air or air-to-water intercooler.

Why do you think turbo is a good option? Maybe it would be... Dunno...

I definately plan to do more research. I'm researching as hard and fast as I can. I have to work, eat, and potty from time to time...

what i mean is that is does not have one built in but because of the design (more efficent) works like one. Unlike a centrifugal's intercooler or a roots after cooler on some models. Turbos are awsome and make alot of power if set up right but are more expensive for them. On the more bang for you buck theory. So thats why I am looking at super charger "kits" exclusively. I would like to know if there any nice kits available with fuel injectors, chips, fuel presure regulators, ex.. Besides the ones that I am allready aware of. I have been looking at keene bell twin screw, and pro charger centrifugal superchargers. So any ideas are great.

thank you though for posting and responding any ideas are greatly appreciated.

it appears to me that some of you guys don't read. subscribe to MM&FF. just this last month, they had an article on a guy who was upgrading to the KB on his 03 cobra.... and they usually have several pictures andwalk you through upgrades step by step. one of the things they pointed out and pictured, was the built in intercooler on the supercharger.
Mineral Greay:
The reason turbos ARE a better option is simple. They are 1a lot more effecient than your average blower. Less parasitic drag (works off the heat in the exhaust) means more power.
The boost IS NOT parabolic like a centrifugal (most common) blower, and you do not have to choose a pully so large that you won't overboost at redline.
Yes, turbos DO cost more off the line, but no where near $1000 more ($500 I can see), yes they ARE more difficult to install, NO they aren't any more difficult to maintain.
They make more power, the boost builds and STAYS at the max, you can change boost at the turn of a ****, and you only install it once (so deal with the extra install time and enjoy the extra power).
awwimer:
They are slightly mnore expensive off the line. But when you look at the extra power you make over a blower, the fact that turbo lag is almost non-existant (if you put the proper sized turbo on for your motor's size and application), full boost by 2 grand in most applications, MAINTAINED full boost the entire RPM range, better gas milage, and MORE power with a twin turbo kit, the choice is plain and clear to me.
If bang for buck was your concern, you wouldn't be looking at blowers. Let's face it, they're expensive.
Nitrous is cheap and makes just as much power as a blower for under $600 (don't give me the bulls**t line about blowing up your motor either) as long as you aren't greedy, stupid, and you tune right.

thank you jeep I appretiate your oppinion I also trust your judgement I have been seeing a lot of your posts and you seem pretty mustang sabby. but the reason I do not want to go with nos is well how do I put this. I want the power allways on tap. I do not want to have to activate it. Yes I could put a wot switch to go on when the peddal is smashed. But If I got the bullit manifold I could run more nitrous with out cracking the plastic manifold I have. So many possibilities. But over all I think I could be faster with a good turbo or super charger for cheaper in the long run. (if i had nos I would probably have to refill every time I got gas.)

bcime I do have that article mm&ff and its page 87 to be coorect but unforntuntly the built in part is not there on the keene bell but kept from the stock eaton they pulled off. Huh that would be nice if they made one for it for a gt though. If they do let me know the part number.
