Default Long tube header install...

Well... Day 1 was a disaster... It took all day to cut everything out, unbolt everything, remove exhaust manifolds and install LT headers, having problems getting all the header bolts tight.
Only thing me and my dad have done are unbolt the motor mounts and moved it around to our choice of position, but it doesnt help much.

There are still tight spots that I can barely fit my hand through... Let alone my dads hands... anybody got a link to an install?

BTW... If I could go back into time, I would pay a shop $500 to do this... just an FYI... for people thinking about doing it.

Dont try to install them without dropping the Kmember. You are just making it very hard on yourself.

It is alot easier then you think. I have done 4 longtube installs and can install them now in 3 hours. You want a hard longtube install then try installing them on a Trans Am.

Ya, +1 on the k-member drop. Do that, take off the motor mounts and you're golden. You'll have direct access to most of the bolts and the other ones all you need is a wrench.

DOes anyone have a trick to tighten them or check to see if they need to tighen them. I've had mine on for 2 years and havn't tightened them yet. I don't see any soutcoming from the headers fr the manifold, so I don't think anything is wrong. I just want a piece of mind that there is no exhaust leaks.I've got under my car and have no idea where to start. Is there any special tools to get into the wierd angles. HElp.

I always use German torque on the botls I can't use my torque wrench on - good-n-tight.
