Put a dab of paint or greese on the end of the pin and set the hood on it to mark your spot to drill.

Ok

I went ahead and got the hood mounted to make sure it fits and installed the hood pins. It was a little more time consuming then I thought but came out nice.

I bought a Niche Performance hood (I think they are the same as ABC hoods just more expensive)

I also held my custom front bumper up on the car to get a rough idea of what it would look like. I will make all the brackets and install the front bumper next week.

Here is what it looked like .

I wish I had time to prime and finish the hood more so it would look better but she will be getting done soon.

I basically just removed the hoodbump stopsand moved them in toward the fender more. (I drilled and tapped the holes so they would screw in) This way I can still adjust the hood how it sits up in front. Then easier said than done I drilled the holes where the bump stops go bigger so the hood pin kit could screw in the nut at the right angle.(It wouldn't screw in without me drilling the hold bigger) Then once the hold was drilled I just held the pin in place and tack welded the nut and tapped it until it fit perfect. Then welded a thick bead around the whole nut. Then kitty-haired and bondo'd up around the nut to mold it in.

Here is what that looked like on both sides.

Pretty self explanatory but just a little time consuming for me. Shes coming along though. Gotta prime a few more things and shell be ready soon. I'm going to say though That I am disappointed by how flimsy this fiberglass hood is. I didn't think they would be so chimpsy. When I goto close the hood the latch flexes the hood to the passenger side. ( I guess because its so light and fiberglass) When it closes it lines up great though. I just had to move the hinges over because the hood holes didnt line up.

I got the hood from this guy. He took a month to ship out my hood and I had to wait another couple of weeks to get it.

I got my front bumper from ebay. I would also goto abc for the front bumper.

Thats it so far though. I cant wait to get it painted.

Nobody on here has hood pins on there MooStangye
Isn't there a reinforced latch that's molded in the fiberglass? You do realize the stock hood is fiberglass as well and I have run 140mph for miles and miles with no problems! Actually I drove 140 for 50 miles in one shot last year!..lol Luckily it was a cool night just about 55degrees!

The stock hoods on our cars also have some steel cross bracing to absorb the impact of a front end crash. Thats the reason why you don't need the pins on the stock hood.

It looks good. I know alot about a hood flying up. It's not fun driving with a hood in your face.
