Default Cold air intake ???

Hey guys i recently bought an 04 40th anniversary edition gt(actually last week) but i guess it has 3 chamber flows which i thought were factory pipes at first and then i heard popping so i was like wtf? but anyway i know alittle bit about mustangs but not that much. it also has a set of Y2K cobra r rims(18's) and ive been trying to find a good CAI and i just cant decide what i want or what is good. so if anyone has any opinions please feel free to share. thanks

They are all pretty much the same. You don`t really gain anything by having one. Plastic is better because it dosen`t attract as much heat as the metal ones do. But the shiny chrome ones do look nice. I have a BBK and it looks good but gets pretty hot.

So wouldnt a "HOT" pipe heat up the air? which in turn would defeat the whole purpose of getting a cold air intake?

its called heat soak. There's a debate about itthough, as the air in the intake tubemay not beinside the pipe long enough to get heated.

anyways there was a thread on this yesterday...

Now, time for my shameless plug ...I have a drop in K&N filter in the classified section if you're interested...

Yes,, but some people can't resist the bling-bling look of a shiny chrome tube so they sacrifice performance for appearance

Just remember, dont expect a huge gain from this. If you want to spend your money on this mod jlt or tunable induction are the way to go imo. But power for your dollar wise, its one of the worst mods, especially on a stock motor.

Might want to look into a 75mm throttle body/plenum combo first. You can get a professional products combo on ebay for around 200. Youll most likely see better gains with that, which will still be minimal.

you're going to get about the same gains no matter which intake you choose.
