Default Weight reduction

I was looking into doing some weight reduction, just basic stuff, after hearing about the seats THR is going to be using in their car (18 pounds each).

I was kinda depressed with what the results would be. Using the weight chart in the tech section, it looks like installing the 2 racing seats, doing a rear seat delete, and removing the spare tire/jack is only good for around 129 pounds?

Is this even going to be a noticable difference? What else can you do that won't take away from the car being a street car to loose weight? I really don't want to go to the expense of a k member and all that stuff (just did the front suspension lol, don't want to do it again) but it seems REALLY hard to loose lots of weight?

I was also thinking about trying to remove the mach sound system's rear amps/speakers the next time I go to the track... is this something thats hard to mess with? I don't want anything done that I can't put back, I enjoy my tunes.

You could do all that stuff and then pick up a set of Bogart D-10 drag wheels. Each skinny weighs like 8 lbs. and each rear 15x10 weighs only 13 lbs or so. They are expensive but they are the shiznit. My buddy is running them on his Cobra at the track and I am considering a set for the track. They do however require spacers and /or grinding of your front calipers.

What about weld wheels? I was looking at doing some skinnys up front and some lightweight ones for the back with maybe ET streets or BFGs on them.

What size do you need for the front, and do they make any that will fit over the bullitt brake upgrade?

Welds are nice. Just don't borrow drag radials and rims from a dumbass friend. He had two different rims. One weighing a lot and the other fairly light [:@]

mmm, I don't know about the bullitt upgrade. Like I said, I am considering them. But the Weld's are definately less expensive. Weld is owned by American Racing now. I have access to a set of Weld Prostars and I am also thinking of just using them all the time. The thing about Bogart is that you can only use them on the track. They aren't reccommended for use on the street and it will void warranty.

The welds will be a little heavier but they are still pretty light. The set of Welds that I will be using are a 15x3.5 up front and a 15x10 in the back. The skinnies alone will shave a few 10ths off your ET because you're reducing the rotational mass. My buddy that I told you about with the Bogarts shaved .4 off of his 1/8th mile time with them.

I used Mickey Thompson ET Street D/R's Friday night and they are awesome. I like them 10x's better than the Nitto's. Some people at our local track equate them to launching on ET Drags (slix)

Buy some welds or something, those DD bullits have to be slowing you down like a mo fo, man.Rotational mass is pretty important. The 129 lbs or w/e it is actually does make a difference. Last week i went something like 14.033 then 14.4xx with passanger then 14.0xx right after that. All those runs were made within the same 30 minutes, so the variables didn't change all that much. My passanger was a skinny guy too, about 150 pounds. For the amount of money you'd be spending on the seats though, I don't know. If I was you, I'd just save for some wheels and tires. Whenever I work on DD bullits at work I'm always thinking "why do these have to be so heavy"...they are so heavy it's a pain to lift them, it actually takes effort, where as most wheels that go on cars are so easy to lift it only takes one arm and a nice swing, DD bullits take 2 arms and a good back . Welds on the other hand...you can throw one of those things for a mile, they're so lite.
