Changing the Oil

I have a black 98 GT 5Spd. I just want to know what all components I need to change my oil? What is rocommended oil i use? I am doing this from my house so tell me everything and anything that I need to get the job done. Just take this question like I have nothing but my car. Let me know... THanks in advance.

5-6qt of 5w20 - I reccomend Mobil 1 Synthetic.
Oil filter - I use PureOne. Don't use FRAM. They suck.

Jack it up, drain the oil, drain the filter, replace. Easy stuff.

well i use mobil1 synthetic oil and change it every 5k. i dont think the filter matters that much but i got the cheap one this time because im poor right now. basicaly you jack the front of the car up, unbolt the oil drain bolt. let all the oil drain out and PUT THE PLUG BACK ON. then you take the filter off and let that drain off. then i fill up the filter about halfway with oil and put that back on and fill the rest of the 5 quarts of oil. wipe off the botom of the car and turn it on and check to see if there are any leaks and check to make sure you have oil pressure. and your done.

it cost me 30bucks and a half hour of my time to change my oil last week.

An oil filter wrench can be handy to remove stubborn filters that don't want to budge. Oh and make sure you have a bucket underneath when you remove it because all that oil will come out! Then replace it with a new filter and fill the motor back with oil.

What kind of jacks do I need? Do i need to just rack up the front end? Or both the fron and rear? Or what about drive up ramps? If get two of those how the hell do I make the ramps stay stilll while I am trying to drive up on them?

i have a flat garage so i pull the car in there, jack the car up and put two 3ton jacks near the front wheels, and chalk the rear tires with the ebrake on.

def get a filter removal fitting makes it so much easier and I'm pretty sure your car takes 5qt's 5w30 (check the book and dipstick to be sure) I run mobil 1 syn as well...jack the car up and always use jack stands before going under their
