Default Need HELP!!!!!!!!

Hi,

This is acutally for a friend, he was driving his car and pulled up on a red light and it stalled. He started it back up and then drove and then it stalled again at the next light, it did this 2 more times before it just completely died. When the mechanic looked at it, he said the oil was low and the engine seized. The mechanic said the whole engine would have to be replaced, but I dont see how this could be because even though the oil was low there were still 2 quarts left in it. Is there anything else that could go wrong????, maybe a fuse or some kind of safety that shuts off the car when oil is to low??? BTW he drives a '99 cobra. I would appreciate any help.

Ouch. 2 quarts is not enough oil to keep an engine from seizing.

If it still turns over, fill it up again and see what happens. It could be that your friend is a moron with 2 quarts of oil and a IAC problem, or he's just a complete tool and seized her up.

I really got no clue how he only had 2 quarts, but I was just wondeirng if there were any fuses that would go out. I have a 3000 GT and I had a really bad oil leak once and it ran out, but instead of the engine seizing, a fuse just went out. I was wondierng if the mustang would have a similar system.

I haven't heard of such a thing. Just open his fuse box and take a look.

I wasn't there when it happened so I don't know how hot it was. I just went over my friends place and put some oil in it and tried to get it running, I am pretty sure its siezed up? The mechanic said to just replace the whole engine, but do we have any other options?

If it's seized, you are out of luck. Need a new shortblock.

Is putting in a new engine his only choice? Couldn't we just do a rebuild?

AM I MISSING SOMETHING???
Well, if youre engine siezed, its gonna be costly. The motor in my buddys taurus "siezed". We put 4 qts of Mystery oil in it and it fired right up. lol. Give that a try. There are no fuses that i can think of that would pop before youre oil went on you. Also, why were there just 2 qts of oil in there to begin with? Something isnt adding up here.
