Default Weird clicking noise in engine

this is my first mustang, 01 Gt with 50k miles so forgive me if this is something i should know im kind of a noob. When i give it some gas just cruising around there is a fast clicking noise almost like the belt it is hitting something but it doesnt increase with RPM,s it increases with throttle... anyone know? not too loud but definitely noticeable over the engine sound.

Dude, i really hope ur engine isnt ticking. [&:] Means the car was beaten on, and revved real high, and now the cam is warped (i believe?).

Im not much of an expert on these motors tho, so hopefully someone else can help. Im just guessin based on what ive been told thus far.

i havent completely bought it yet which is the good thing....its going in for a pre-purchase inspection tmrw and if it passes its mine...just thought id ask to see if anyone knew what it could be. would an inspection by a respectable indy find that problem if it were to be that cam warp?>

many other things beak before you warp a cam so thats probably not it, id say a belt tensioner like fryguy22 said.
pretty sure i know what sound you're talking about....if you could get a video that'd be great

Valve tap. Either run low on oil, burns oil, or not taken care of that well. You can take the heads off and clean everything to get rid of it, or just learn to put the volume up.

Uh...if it increases with throttle then obviously it increases with RPM's, no?

I couldn't even be close to accurate with that description. [&:]

^ on my test drive when i was cruising at like 1500rpms i would give it gas and the noise would increase in frequency faster than the RPMs of the car would...responding to the throttle placement rather than the ascension of the RPM's

Sounds like internal engine noise! If it passes inspection then they obviously missed a hundred other things..lol I wouldn't buy it. Move on to another car and be safe!

When you hear a tapping that increases with throttle/RPM its usually something in the valve train. Bad rocker, stuck lifter, sticky valve, loose spring etc. I wouldn't touch it unless you plan or replacing/fixing the valve train.
