Instrument Cluster???
Is the mileage stored in the guage cluster or the computer? Because I have heard that if you swap clusters the miles will not transfer. Is this true? I wanted to either put a Roush or Mach 1 cluster in my Stang but dont want to get busted by the FBI or something crazy for rolling the OD??????
This is for you JD, sense you are the only relpy! I emailed Roush and they said,

All of our clusters require you to swap your original PC boards over to the
Roush cluster and that's where all your vehicle info is stored so no problems
with PATS or your odometer will occur.

Why? Just buy some white guage overlays.
for starters you wont get in trouble by changing the odometer reading, only if you sell the car with the different reading and try to defraud the purchaser. Clusters get changed on all types of cars, theirs supposed to be a sticker placed on the door and a notation on the title noting the correct mileage or that the mileage may be off etc.
Also, the mileage isn't stored in the cluster (like was already said), it's stored it the circuitry (I think) behind the cluster that you can swap out if you go to something like an Autometer setup.

No a 99+ will not fit becasue of the digital odo readout vs. the mechanical readout...

It will fit but, but im not sure if the miles is stored in the comp like stated above???? Ask your local ford sevice center. They will probably know it you can swap. Let us know.
