SPEC DESTROYED MY TRANS!

RE: SPEC DESTROYED MY TRANS!
The spec 1 clutches are junk, you're not the first i've heard. However, all their others i've heard no problems; other than the 1's.
That said, your tranny problems have nothing to do with the clutch.

RE: SPEC DESTROYED MY TRANS!
thats my conclusion im starting to come to. Because everyone thats running the 2 or 3 seem to be satisfied with it, but all post I read about the stage 1 are all disappointed and disgruntled. I know code has a stage 1 on his bucket for a while and he said it went out after 2k miles. so maybe it is just the stage 1 is junk. I dont know but even if i did rag on my car for the full 1200 miles it shouldnt look like that. Imma definatly call them, and i know for a fact they are going to blame something else but it is suspose to have a warranty

I had a friend swear that is Spec Stage 3 destroyed his input shaft. I had a stage 2 for about 80k miles with no issues and several hard launches on slicks. This time I did canhe to a McLeod SHD clutch.

Well... the stock input shaft is junk, lol... well, I wouldn't say junk, but it's not great... the only thing that destroys input shafts is really hooking to hard... if he is running a nice amt of torque, and snapped it into first gear real hard with a 10 spline shaft, and it caught hard withtraction - chances are it will snap.

I made the same mistake you did and got a "rebuilt" T45 transmission. It lasted for about a year, about 4500 miles and then boom. I lost the syncs and then lost 3rd and 4th gear. I was running a mcleod at the time.
Like I said, most of the faster cars here in 4.6L are running spec clutches. They make a great product at a great price.
If the clutch was not improperly installed, I don't see any acutal clutch failure caused your problems. Improper clutch release almost has to be a install problem. Were you running a quadrant and adjuster? If the clutch wasn't releasing all the way it was improperly installed.

RE: SPEC DESTROYED MY TRANS!
I bought a Spec Stage III and didnt even see 1000mi on it before needing to remove it. My mechanic said the pressure plate was warped which in turn destroyed the clutch disk and pilot bearing. Spec called me a lier and screamed obsenities over to phone to me while I tried to make a case. I only yell at the ones I love
Honestly though, I was as polite as I could get to the people at spec and had several people call me a lier and tell me that they do not product faulty parts. My mechanic wrote and called them and they gave him the same treatment. My mechanic is the owner of ClutchHouse in Citrus Heights CA and they had no respect for his word.
I loved the feel of it at first but that feeling was gone within the first 100 miles. I never got to go ***** out with it either
I went to RAM after that, had a small problem with my clutch disk and they replaced it for me, RAM is a way better company than Spec is.
Also you should concider Centerforce too, they are awesome!
