once you go synthetic you never go back
what happens to your car if you run fully synthetic then go back to natural oil?
on the same note
what happens if you're running a blend and you go back to natural?
im running motor craft blend and im not going back to natural or am i going fully synthetic (yet) im just wondering what would happen
thanks

why do people say once you have synthetic you cant go back to natural?
what does it do to your engine if you go back?
or transmission or whereever else the oil is put...

I dont have much experience in street car engines and oils, but in my race cars, we will always run synthetic.
In a 600cc micro sprint motor...I forgot to put oil in it.[:@]I was able to make 5 laps and bring it up to 500 degrees before it started to seize and I shut it down.
I know of other guys who did the same thing, NOT using synthetic, and slung a rod through the block. And a few guys who also did it with synthetic and minimal damage. Pretty much everyone I know runs synthetic in their sprint and karting motors these days.

People SAY (not sure how much truth there is) that if you run regular oil in your car for a longtime (say 100k+ miles) then run synthetic, that synthetic runs so much smoother that it creates havoc with the oil deposits or something along those lines.
The myth is going from regular oil on high milage cars, to synthetic.

Thats BS. It was a myth years ago. You can go back to regular oil from synthetic whenever you want.

The only things I have heard of are your not supposed to run synthetic on a brand new engine as it can prevent the piston rings to not seat... but that was back in the day when the oils came with stuff in them to make the seals seat, and they don't anymore.
So far as switching, I do know that on higher milege engines that don't show oil leaks synthetic can use oil, as the particles are so much smaller/smoother/rounder they can escape where others would get thru. I had a coworker that switched to syn in a high milage suburban that didn't use oil and it leaked like a sieve... he switched back and it stopped.
It should not hurt anything, but you shoudn;t run anything but full syn in your car IMO. After using it I will never go back. The car takes almost x2 as long to heat up if that tells you anything about the friction
