Default Porting The Stock Plenum?

Has anyone ported out the stock plenum to 70mm or maybe even 75mm?
I like the way the stock unit looks, with the Mustang on it but I am looking at going with a 70mm throttle body and would
like to port the stock plenumt to match.

Is there a How-To somewhere?
I can't seem to locate one.
Tia!

I did a how to write up on this exact topic, it is in the how to section in the stickies, look under T/B plenum install,,, I went with a 75mm and stock plenum....... You can port it a lot more than I did, I just port matched mine, but you can remove even more material to get a lot more volume....

Thanks for the info!
I must have had a brain fart because I could have sworn I looked there and didn't find it!

Well it's there now, so I'm all set!
Thanks again!

isnt the reason to change the plenum to change the angle that the air flows? i mean look at the C&L plenum than look at the pro products, accufab, and the stock, you can see all of them have a differnet elbow angle to them? isnt that the reason to switch plenums and they flow a little bit better.

No it really isn't about angle, it's about volume, I've seen stock plenums ported to the point that they would outfilow any aftermarket one, the walls were super thin though, to do a stock one well, you shave a ton of material off the bottom to the point where it is almost a straight shot from the T/B to the intake,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, But the point of this thread is Port Matching a larger T/B to the stock plenum, not porting it for better flow or volume

Most aftermarket plenums are 1/2" to 3/4" taller than the OEM unit to increase charge velocity and buy some amount of power gain. You must keep in mind that the column of intake air has mass (and therefore inertia), and is not a steady flow--it pulsates as the engine sucks it in and therefore has standing waves and other harmonic relationships that affect pressure at the intake ports.Making the space after the TB larger by increasing the height of the plenum, or via a spacer, increases the mass of the air after the TB and therefore it's dynamics--the aftermarketappears convinced this is a good thing, if I were porting a stock plenum I would get a spacer too. It'slikely not a big gainby anymeasure however it would seem it makes the engine happier...I've got a 70 mm Pro Products TB, and their plenum as well (same as Trick Flow) and am very pleased with the result of same and a 93 octane tune.

+1
I like the look of your set up, goes nice under the hood.

Here is a link to the spacer.
