Default Engine fan?

I have a feeling that my car's engine fan doesn't work. A couple days ago when I changed the coolant and you have to let it run until the the thermastat opens fully so that you get it to flush right, the fan never came on and the temperature was reading in the M on the NORMAL range. The reason I don't think it is working is cause my car runs pretty hot just sitting in traffic but runs super cool when driving. I have not heard the fan in a long time. How do I fix this??

Sure fire way to see if the fan works is start the car and turn the AC on FULL BLAST.

Ford designed it so that the fan would come on when the AC was needed so that more air would pass at all times instead of when just needed to cool the engine.

If it doesnt come on then you need to remove the fan and have it manually tested. If it works then you have a short somewhere or corrosion. If it doesnt then its not too expensive to replace the fan motor. Ford sells just the motor istelf and you have ot remove the blade and housing but otherwise its an easy install.

Best of luck

Could also be as simple as a Fan Relay or Thermostatic switch.

Do what Neo suggested first. Then if the fan works, check on the radiator and around the thermostat housing for the fan switch. The relay is probably in the black box by your battery.

the relay is fine already checked that. So would my car have to be at normal temperature, or can it be cold?? Anyway I will just try it tomorrow after I get done driving it so it will be at normal operating temp.
